MEET ARETHA JACKSON

FREIGHT PROSPECTING • SALES • RELATIONSHIPS

I fell in love
with the hunt.

I didn’t fall in love with freight because of the load board. I fell in love with the process of finding the customer.

Researching a company. Figuring out who makes the transportation decisions. Getting past the gatekeeper. Making the first call. Following up when the answer is no. And working to turn a cold prospect into a real relationship.

MY FREIGHT JOURNEY

I learned by picking up the phone.

Freight sales taught me quickly that opportunity rarely arrives because you waited for it. I learned to research companies, locate the right people, ask better questions, follow up consistently, and keep calling even when the first answer was no.

During my first year as a broker, I moved approximately $983,000 in freight volume. Later, I made the decision to change companies and rebuild—proof that the process matters even when you have to start a new book of business.

I still prospect. I still research. I still make the calls. The First Call was created from the work I actually do.

WHY I CREATED
THE FIRST CALL

“I’m not here to give you my customers. I’m here to teach you how to find yours.”

I kept seeing owner-operators searching for the next load, the next list, or the next person who might hand them a dedicated lane. I wanted to teach something different: the prospecting process itself.

That means learning how to identify companies worth calling, find transportation decision-makers, open the conversation, ask useful questions, and stay on a prospect’s radar. There are no promises of guaranteed freight—there is a repeatable skill you can keep developing.
